Maths tuition: topics and skills
Number, algebra and mathematical reasoning

For A-Level and IB routes, support can focus on the student’s selected pure mathematics, statistics or mechanics topics. IB students should specify Mathematics AA or AI and HL or SL. The lesson plan follows the school’s course rather than treating all advanced Maths as interchangeable.
Making revision measurable
A topic checklist and a record of repeated errors help identify the next priority. Short mixed exercises check whether earlier topics remain secure alongside new material.
My child understands Maths in class but blanks out in tests
Following a teacher’s solution and choosing a method alone are different skills. Start with a small number of questions without notes, ask the student to explain why a method fits, and review the first step where they become stuck. Gradually introducing time limits can help students practise working under exam conditions without rushing straight into full papers.
